years of Mr. Greenberg's self motivated manipulations, I should at least be able to see the course with its delightful collection of artfully placed sculptures. So I coaxed a reluctant Nick into taking me down that woodsy road past the little revolutionary war cemetery, to the stone gates of Morefar, Back o'Beyond. It looked ominous but alluring, Nick wanted to turn back. But I begged him to press on, so we drove up the narrow shaded drive past cottage-like out buildings, till we came to a cart shed on the crest of a hill. A bit further on through a boarder of small trees and flowering shrubs, I glimpsed a pristine sun-dappled section of fairway.
Just then, in the rear view mirror I spotted a man in a golf cart making his way rapidly towards us. Nick nervously lowered the window, and I feigned naivete, politely asking, "We've heard so much about this course... is there any possibility of...um... playing here?"
The nondescript man answered coldly, "There's no way that can happen and you've got to leave here right now".
"Would it be possible for me to take a photograph or two?" I ventured, again playing it naive.
"We expect our privacy to be respected", he responded with an icy stare...at which point Nick rolled up the window and quickly turned back down the drive towards the stone entrance gate. Nick has no stomach for confrontation... and almost refused to take the photo above, at Morefar's gate. He didn't even take the time to focus.
I'm not done, however. Now I'm determined to find a way to get into Morefar.

I personally use Titleist irons, specifically the 690MB forged irons which they dont sell anymore but the new Titleist Z Blend forged irons are probably the new, equivalent of those.
I could probably tell you a lot of things about the features but lets just say this is the recommended club for any low-handicapper to scratch players as its forgiving while the forged metal gives you more control over your ball flight.
Another very important thing 99% of golfers forget is the length, lie and loft of the irons. You need to get every iron set you get correctly. FYI, my length is 1 over standard, and lie is 2 degrees upright, and I have all my irons delofted about 1/2 a club since I tend to hit my iron shots quite high.
Choosing your set of golf clubs is important but without proper adjustments, you will hit the ball consistently to the left or right plus the fact that if your lie is off, you will hit the ball fat or thin even if you hit it perfect.

There is a difference between being good at a sport and truly excelling at it. You may never wish to compete in a sport climbing event, but that does not mean you do not want to develop your rockclimbing skills to the next level. A climbing school is a great way to improve your technical skills while learning how to increase your speed. A good school can even help you master areas with which you are having difficulty.

Tech stocks continue to get creamed this morning, led by Google, whose stock is now officially a dropping knife (i.e., good luck catching it). Shares are down 5 percent so far today to about $353 (at one point they dipped as low as $350. Thats more than a $50 drop since Friday and the lowest the stock has traded since March, 2006. The question on investors minds: How low can it go?
Even though Google is the best positioned Internet (or media) company to weather a slowdown in advertising spending, analysts have started cutting back their earnings estimates for the company. As for overall ad spending, Barclays Capital is trimming its estimates for both overall and Internet ad spending. Total ad spending in the U.S. (including cable and broadcast TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, Yellow Pages, direct mail, Internet, and outdoor) it forecasts will decline 3.6 percent this year to $284 billion and then another 5.5 percent in 2009 to $269 billion. Of that total, Barclays is still estimating that Internet ad spending will grow 17 percent to $24.8 billion in 2008. But that represents a $1.4 billion haircut from its previous 2008 estimate of $26.2 billion. (It expects 2009 Internet ad spending to grow another 14 percent to $28.3 billion).
Although search advertising is most likely to hold up in the coming advertising recession, its growth rate is expected to slow down. Nevertheless, display advertising is expected to get the worst of it, which means less growth for Googles DoubleClick business, but should hurt Yahoo, AOL, and Microsoft more. Thats why some analysts are still bullish on Google.

With swinging a golf club so vital to playing a great game of golf, just about everyone eventually looks for information or lessons on how to swing a golf club. For many it becomes a quest like the Holy Grail, finding the perfect golf swing.
For some people the golf swing seems to be a natural thing. Golfers who've played a lot of baseball seem to be able to transfer that swing to the golf course and are very successful. Hockey players who have practiced the slapshot for years, are also able to transfer that motion to a successful golf swing. For others, nothing seems to work. The perfect golf swing seems to be a dream that is unattainable. Which one are you?
The golf swing can be broken down into various sections. There is the backswing, the downswing, the impact and the follow-through. Each of these can and has been analyzed to try and find the perfect swing for each and every golfer. But then, there is also such a thing as a pre-shot routine, that's the sequence of events you go through before each and every swing. The really professional golfers do the exact same thing before each and every shot. They have their pre-shot routine down to a science and they follow it religiously. Quite often, the budding golfer or even the longtime duffer will continuously change their pre-shot routine almost daily looking for just that little extra secret or edge. Instead, they only succeed in messing up their golf swing and the whole thing starts all over again.
And whether you are just taking up golf, or been playing for some time, you should be aware that you have a tremendous tool to improve your golf swing in your golf game. I'm talking about the videos we can all watch today of golf professionals and how they play. And amazingly we also have on demand videos on the Internet that are absolutely free of great golfers like Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh or John Daly or past greats like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Sam Snead, Walter Hagan or Gene Sarazen. Imagine being able to sit and watch how golfers, credited with having great golf swings, perform the task. Talk about a golden opportunity to learn.
And if you add in a few golf lessons and use the videos to piece it all together, you can improve your golf swing and your golf game amazingly fast. And if you can't afford a few golf lessons, you can always use the valuable golf books that are available to give you the gist of the golf swing and then use the videos to help you put it all together. Each and every golf pro can become like your personal tutor. One of the best golf e-books I've ever seen is one put out by Gene Littler. Littler won 29 PGA Tour events and had an incredibly beautiful swing. His swing is another one you can see on videos on the Internet- it has been termed one of the best ever by his contemporaries. Today Gene is helping people learn his golf swing by electronically publishing "Master The Golf Swing".
Combining free videos from the internet with a few wisely spent dollars on the proper golf knowledge will do wonders for your golf swing and your game. Ignoring the wise path to success will only see you continue to drive the ball left and right instead of straight down the fairway. The decision is all up to you.

The sport of golf has always been a very popular sport. Whether you are watching the game or playing it, it is one of Americas favorite pastimes. But, this game can be extremely confusing to a beginner just learning all about the game. With terms such as golf swing plane, golf swing tiger and swing aids being tossed around the golf course a beginner golfer could get extremely confused and frustrated with this sport very easily.
You should begin learning about golf by doing research on golf swing techniques. There are websites that are very informative about golf. You can also find out information on the best expert golf teachers in your area. You should consult a professional golfer to educate you about golf swing teaching. A golf teacher will gladly help you learn about golf and aid you with your golf swinging.
You will also need to know about all the golf swing aid products that are available on the market. You should consult with a professional golfer about which golf swing aids would benefit you the most. There are slice eliminators, swing detectives, perfect planes, etc. for you to choose from. Golf swing aids vary with their price ranges, so its very important to get the best advice possible from an expert so you wont end up wasting any money on products that arent suitable for you.
When its time for you to begin practicing, you may find that watching golf swing videos can be helpful. Videos on golf swinging are very informative, and you will learn everything you need to know about things such as the golf swing plane. The videos will often show professionals like Tiger Woods while theyre in the middle of a game tournament. You may be able to pick up some on professional techniques. By watching Tiger Woods, for instance, you can learn about golf swing planes. Observing the golf swing Tiger uses can be very beneficial to you and your golf education.
Of course hands-on practice is another great way for you to learn about golf. Whenever you get a chance, be sure to visit your own local golf courses. You can observe local golf professionals as they play right in front of your eyes! By watching them, you can study their movements and learn about commonly used golf swing planes. The more you watch professional golfers use a golf swing plane, the more educated youll become on which ones are the most useful. You should also consider going up to them and asking them for any advice that they can give you about golf swing aids. Dont be shy!
Keep in mind though, thats its never a good idea to blindly jump into a game without any knowledge. Dont go jumping into a game of golf while youre ignorant of the rules and terms. Do as much research as possible beforehand, and THEN you may practice some! Youll have to know which golf swing aid would be the best for you before trying to play. And dont forget that youre only a beginner, and that theres only one Tiger Woods. Of course you can learn all you can about golf swing plane by observing professionals like him. If you take the time to practice, you may even use the same golf swing Tiger uses.

Yes, that is the Alehouse beverage center on a Friday night. Not fancy, but functional.
Anyway, as you can see, the head is impressive. It wasn't what I would describe as rocky, more like how a homemade wheat bread might look like, with holes of varying sized throughout.
I can't recall a specific aroma about it. Although the promotional materials mention a Cascade hop aroma, I can't say it really registered with me.
I will say, however, that the taste is much better than I expected from Bud, having tried, and not been overly impressed by, their Michelob line of "craft brews". It has an excellent balance of malt and hops, but it's not sweet malty, it's bread malty. If you don't get what I'm saying, grab yourself a Fat Tire sometimes. That's one bready beer. The hops provide the necessary balance, but if you're a hop head, this beer isn't for you.
So, as Lew asks in his review above, who is this beer for? Well, me, for one. Although I like great beer, I'm far from being a "beer snob". I'll knock back the Beast Light with the best of them. I think this beer would be a good way to introduce a Bud/Beast Light drinker to how real beer is supposed to taste. Ok, not the Beast Light drinker. It costs more than three bucks a sixer.
Now, for the interesting news. You can't get Bud Ale in the Memphis area. Not in Shelby county anywhere. You can, however, drive to Fayette county, to the Wal Mart in Oakland, and get it there. Tennessee beer laws were written by morons.
This is a good beer, one that will have a place in Da Beer Fridge for a long time to come.

Pacific Palms Resort back in July, but as always, Im way behind on the blog. These guys are die-hard fans of the USC Trojans, so it was only fitting that this couple surprised their 600 guests with a grand entrance featuring a few members of the USC Trojan Marching Band. Ive seen these guys play events before, but Ive never seen the secret kept so well. No one and I mean no one except the couple, one bridesmaid and me knew that the band was there. So the guests just freaked out, and it was really fun to watch. The ever-stylish Sagar kept his good humor for the worlds longest jaan, and he never complained once, even though he got stuck on that horse for way longer than he was expecting. (Its a long story.) Dimple is just so adorable (check out her dad wiping away her tears), and shes also a die-hard fan of gelato (even though she never seems to gain any weight, unlike somebody else I know). When I called to get her address so I could ship her proofs, she said, t I coming up there so we can go to gelato? The answer was, of course, yes. And gelato fun was indeed had.

My father loved golf. Loved it. As far back as I can remember, my father watched, talked and played golf. Even into his 80s and struggling with Parkinsons, he would be eager to show you the latest adjustments to his golf swing. It was his personal passion.
When I was in high school I realized that I really wanted to be an actor. Ever since I was nine years old I wanted to make movies and after getting a taste of the theater at Northeast High, I realized this was my calling.
My father struggled with that idea. Big time. He had an accounting background. My older brothers and sisters were accountants, teachers, managers, analytical chemists, etc. And I wanted to be an actor?????
My family didnt get it. For my Dad, it simply did not compute.
In my fathers mind, he didnt want me to make any grave mistakes that would put my future in jeopardy by being an actor. For him, acting wasnt a career, it was a hobby. It wasnt a job. It was frivolous at best and irresponsible at worst.
Then he went to the golf course.
He hit a couple of buckets of balls and, on the drive home, was worried about my passion for acting. Why acting? Why not something normal? He asked himself. Hec, if Peter would want to play golf, I could support that!
A moment later he stopped and asked himself Why is being a golfer any more valid than being an actor? Why is being an accountant any more valid than being an actor? Just because I think dont think its right doesnt mean its not right for him.
By the time he got home he had come to terms with my passion. And he supported me completely from that day forward. Instead of fighting me on it, he started to ask questions, to inquire, to learn. He started to watch television shows with a more critical eye and we would discuss what made it a success or failure.
Because my father had a change of heart, it opened up our relationship and took us down paths we never would have experienced otherwise. He once told me that my performance in Broadway Bound at the Hippodrome in Gainesville was one of the most touching moments of his life. He learned to love me for the gifts God had given me instead of trying to force me down a pragmatic path he had envisioned. He attended almost all of my productions and, with every visit backstage, his face beamed, his eyes filled with tears and he would embrace me with a long and heartfelt hug. There was no greater feeling, no applause, no review, no paycheck that could come close to those affirming hugs given to me by my father.
Now, with Sonlight Pictures, I think back to his drive home from the golf course and wonder. What if I had played golf? What if I followed his dream for me instead of Gods plan for me? Where would my path have lead?
When I started Sonlight Pictures, after substantial prayer and discernment, I realized that all of my experiences in my life had been in preparation for this vocation. God gave me these creative passions. Those are my unique gifts, my unique attributes as the greater body of Christ. My acting experience, my behind-the-scenes television experience, my real world project management experience, my health challenges, my faith journey all have been in preparation for this effort, Sonlight Pictures.
I am just grateful that my father recognized the unique talents that God had given me and they werent accounting and chemistry and teaching it was acting, writing and directing. And I am even more grateful that he had the wisdom and trust in the Lord to let me follow what God had inspired in me over what he thought I should do with my life.
My father trusted in the Lord with his youngest child and that trust has allowed me to grow beyond my aspirations.
Some twenty-five years later, I look back and think, Thank goodnes I never liked to play golf.

Political unrest, financial crisis, and a war. If you are in business right now, especially small business, you're probably feeling all of this--in addition to the day to day challenges of maintaining your livlihood!
The benefit of working in the service industry, especially a salon, is that people's hair doesn't stop growing just because the world is imperfect. Hair salons and funeral homes, my friends, never stop working.
There isnatural downtime in this part of the year for Urbaca, right before the madness of the holidays. Now is the perfect time to fine tune our business and marketing plans, reach out to fellow business owners, and amass as many publicity items (photos, videos, etc.) as possible.
Our continued good thoughts for all earthlings.

Golf exercise benefits are many. Golfers have struggled for
years with their games and have become very frustrated. I cant
tell you how many times I play with golfers who are about to
quit the game.
To explain golf exercise benefits to a golfer takes a little
convincing, but in a short amount of time they become believers.
There are so many I cant possible list them all in this
article, but you will be motivated to take this approach.
Some of the main golf exercise benefits are; improved power for
longer drives; dramatically improved stability for better
consistency; a body that moves freer, removing tension from the
swing; more energy for 18 holes; elimination of injuries; weight
loss; improved concentration due to a reduction in fatigue; I
could go on-and-on.
Improved Power For Longer Drives
If your body is weak and inflexible you will not be able to
achieve optimal swing mechanics. Such things as a full shoulder
turn, with minimal hip rotation; creating and retaining torque
(energy) in your core for maximum clubhead spead; proper
sequence of motion with muscles firing at the appropriate time;
being able to swing just a little harder on long par 5s and
still be in control.
Removing Tension From The Swing
When you improve your flexibility (range of motion specific to
your golf swing) you are able to make a full backswing with no
tension in the supporting muscles of the swing. Like the
shoulders, lower back, upper back (lats), and even the wrists.
It is known in most athletics that less tension equals more
power.
More Energy For 18 Holes
One of the biggest culprits of back nine blow-ups is loss of
energy resulting in poor mental confidence and swing mechanics.
I see this one all the time when I playgolfers who are out of
shape and lack appropriate fuel intake and maintenance. Having
energy for 18 holes builds tremendous confidence and a higher
level of play.
Elimination Of Injuries
Golf injuries are prevalent among all amateur golfers,
especially senior golfers. The golf swing is a damaging movement
on the human body. Swinging a club between 80-100 mph in less
than a second can be traumatic. Golfers who dont have an
adequate level of golf strength and flexibility are susceptible
to injury every time they swing the club. The lower back usually
takes the brunt of the stress and strain. Then hips, knees,
shoulders and even wrists. A stronger, more flexible golfer will
avoid injuries indefinitely.
Weight Loss
I have worked with over 10,000 golfers via my online golf
performance website and they all fill out an initial golf
fitness profile. Since I review every one of them personally, I
see how many of them have weight loss of 10-30 pounds as a goal.
There are more overweight golfers on the course than fit ones.
This is because golfers have not come to the conclusion the
fitness plays a critical role in golf performance. Exercising
will not only improve lean muscle, but melt fat away. To not
only improve their golf, but lose weight is icing on the cake
for any golfer.
Improved Concentration
How many times have you had a good score going into the back
nine only to have a couple of blow-up holes that ruined your
score? It happens all the time. Why? Because your body fatigues
and your brain doesnt maintain a high enough level of
concentration. The result is poor club selection; swing
mechanics and diminishing confidence. A fitter golfer will
always have the edge over an out-of-shape one. When the round
progresses and tension creeps in they will prevail every time.
The above are only a few golf exercise benefitsbut enough to
hopefully convince you that its worth looking into. The golf
swing is now being viewed as a very athletic movement, like
baseball, tennis, etcand should be approached from a
conditioning emphasis. I hope you now realize the return on
investment from these golf exercise benefits.

quit the game.
(energy) in your core for maximum clubhead spead; proper
sequence of motion with muscles firing at the appropriate time;
being able to swing just a little harder on long par 5s and
still be in control.

I was in St. Louis 10 years ago Monday. The Tribune sent me there to write about Mark McGwire and his pursuit of Roger Maris single-season home run record.
Like the hundreds of other sportswriters at Busch Stadium that night, I had been enthralled as McGwire and Sammy Sosa spent the summer hitting monster home runs into seats 450 feet away.
And when McGwire hit his 62nd homer off the Chicago Cubs Steve Trachsel - a line drive that chased over the left field wall - I tried to convey the magnitude of the moment in poetic terms.
How foolish I was. How foolish we all were.
Looking back, its easy to understand why we looked the other way.
After the 1994 strike canceled the World Series, we wanted to fall in love with baseball again. And there were McGwire and Sosa, larger-than-life characters, wowing us with their swings and, in Sosas case, charming us with his smile.
We bought it. We bought all of it. Never mind that a bottle of androstenedione had been found in McGwires locker. Never mind that Sosa looked like he had put on 25 pounds of pure muscle.
We chose to be blind to the scandal because we were desperate for heroes.
So much has changed since then. There is no presumed innocence today. Whenever athletes accomplish something extraordinary - like 41-year-old swimmer Dara Torres qualifying for the Olympics - they are assumed to be cheating.
Maybe thats good. Maybe we should be cynical of what we see.
But its sad, too. Theres no joy going through life seeing the worst in people.
But thats what Sosa and McGwire did to us. They cheated. They lied.
They changed us.

Last week I was in Girdwood, Alaska to give a green living and business trends presentation to the amazing members of the Anthony Robbins Platinum Partnership which brings together dynamic folks from around the world who meet throughout the year in some of the most breathtaking places on earth. I arrived on Monday after finishing up shooting in Los Angeles for my Lazy Environmentalist television pilot and was suddenly surrounded by the jagged snowcapped peaks of the Churgach mountains as we traveled south from Anchorage along the Seward Highway. The road winds along the Turnagain Arm of the Chickaloon Bay. We pulled over to watch whales playing in the water and spotted a couple of Bald eagles flying overhead. After presenting that afternoon I got to hang out with the members and accompany them the next day to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center where we set about planting trees and clearing fields. The center is home to animals such as bison, elk, moose, and bear. It’s one of the most extraordinary places I’ve ever visited and was a much needed day to reconnect on a deep level with the sheer power, diversity and magnificence of nature. It reignited for me so many of the reasons why we do the work to accelerate positive environmental change. These pics are evidence that this Lazy Environmentalist was not so lazy – at least for a day.

Mercedes SLC replacement was just snapped leaving its lair for a test run, as we can see in these shots. These pictures provide the clearest look yet at the new uber-car-to-be and allow us to note how long the wheelbase is, making it noticeably difficult for the vehicle’s driver to climb down off the driveway’s lip without scraping the undercarriage and forcing him into the opposite lane in order to complete his right turn. Man, this thing looks unwieldy. Rumor has it that early in the car’s development, Mercedes engineers considered equipping the vehicle with a ladder truck-style auxiliary steering wheel out front, enabling the vehicle to successfully negotiate obstacles such as small buildings and 90 degree corners. This has surely now been replaced with all manner of electro whiz-bangery.

create lag in the golf swing is what I call the gun grip full swing drill. Pick a target and address the golf ball as you normally would. Now for a right handed golfer, take your thumb and index finger of your right hand off of the golf club. Making your thumb and index finger to look like a gun or a pistol will return the best results. Do not get lazy and let these two fingers start to curl back around the grip of the golf club. This will defeat the purpose.
This will feel out of control at first but it has helped many of my students. Pay attention to the golf club at the top of the swing. It should feel like it is dropping and not moving forward. With this you will create lag in your full swing.

those (manufacturing) jobs aren't coming back." In that bygone era of six months ago, McCain was opposed to any kind of protection for American businesses from free trade policies. Now the new ad proclaims support for federal loans to help automakers re-tool to build more efficient vehicles and presumably compete with certain foreign automakers.
Right after that, the ad supports tax credits for clean vehicles. This, of course, is followed by the mantra of "drill baby, drill!" It doesn't actually use that phrase, but does express support for off-shore drilling on the grounds that it would "reduce the cost of gas and spur truck sales." The primary reason there is suddenly so much interest in electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles is because of that high cost of fuel. Reducing the price of fuel would reduce the demand for more efficient vehicles and act counter to that re-tooling the ad mentions only seconds earlier. After all, it is the same plants that build those trucks that McCain says he wants to spur sales of that are being re-tooled. Tell us Mr. McCain, what is it you stand for?

Earlier this week I was taking my daughter to her golf lesson. I'm not grooming her to be a Tigress Woods so you can put that away now. She wanted to learn to play golf and we support that interest. I enjoy golf and selfishly I hope that one day she and I can enjoy playing together. She is still young and she is still just learning the basics but she had been enjoying it. That is why it shocked me initially when as I was dropping her off she told me she didn't want to go. So I asked her why she didn't want to go and she told me it was boring. Little girls of her age complain of boredom quite a lot. At least mine does so you usually have to peel the onion a bit to get to the next layer. This was good for me because the first reaction in my head was, "What??, I'm paying all this money for you to learn golf and you are telling me you are bored?????" But instead......I say....
"Why does it bore you? Is it the instructor?"
"No, dad, all we do is practice", she replied. I explained to her that as she is just learning the basics of the game it is probably too soon to go play golf, that it would be more fun once you could understand the rules and hit the ball well.
"I thought I was going to get play golf at least a little bit", she replied. "I've been practicing for quite a while now and we never leave the range. When can I PLAY golf?"
Brillant. I would be bored with that after a while too. I saw a little of me in there that I hadn't seen before. I'd rather grab some guys and play backyard football than watch a game on TV anyday and I sure as hell wouldn't enjoy golf if all I did is pound balls at the range and never played. So I dropped her off and told her to have fun and I'd see her in an hour.
When I picked her up I asked her if she would like to go play golf with me later in the week. Inside I was thinking how painful it would be to hit my shot and then follow her around while she hit it 10 feet here and 20 feet there, holding up other players, etc. We went last summer once and it was really painful. The excitment shown all the way through her as she giggled and accepted my invitation. "Can I help drive the cart, too?" she asked. "Of course", I said as we drove away from Ironhorse.
Friday came and I had made a 180 in my head as the day approached. I was genuinely excited to take my little girl golfing and enjoy a little one on one time. It was a beautiful day and I was certain it would be awesome. I told myself it wasn't about me golfing and that was great. I picked her up from school and as I was getting ready to talk to her about our plans she said, "Dad, can I have a play date?" I hate the term play date. Why can't it just be like when we were kids? So, I said, "Play-date?"
"Oh, yea", she said, "I mean, can I have someone over to play?" smartly remembering my disaffection for the sojoco term. I explained that is a possibility except that we had made plans to play golf together so I told her she would have to choose because there wouldn't be time for both. "Oh yea....Hmmm", she said, "that is a tough choice but I think I'd like to have someone over to play." I was crushed but I didn't show it.
She is about being in the moment and that is a lot like me as well. I hope she doesn't lose that.
