Serbia coach Radomir Antić has named his squad for the upcoming WC qualifiers against Lithuania (Belgrade, 11. october) and Austria (Vienna, 15. october), and while there are no major surprises in the list, there are a few noteworthy details. There are four debutants in the team: Bojan Isailović (goalkeeper, FK Čukarički), a rather unknown player called to be the third goalkeeper in case of an untimely injury, Igor Đurić (centre-back, FK Vojvodina), a solid young defender thought by many to be one of the best centre-backs in the Serbian league, Dragan Mrđa (attacker, FK Vojvodina) a former U21 international and Red Star player who returned to Serbia after somewhat unsuccesfull spells in Belgium and Russia, and Miloš Ninković (midfielder, Dinamo Kyiv), a very good and talented player who was widely expected to recieve a call-up. Minor controversies in this list, besides the inclusion of Isailović and Mrđa, are the absences of Standard Liege's in-demand striker Milan Jovanović (who Antić considers to be very close to a call-up) and a continuing expulsion of Mateja Kežman from the NT (athough that isn't really a controversy anymore). Antić also spoke about Borussia Dortmund's Neven Subotić, an exciting young defender of Serbian origin, a candidate to play for Serbian, Bosnian, Croatian, German and United States NT's. Although not certain of Subotić's availability to the NT in the future, Antić stated that negotiations are in process. Judging by the previous 'negotiation processes' with Bojan Krkić and Marko Marin, that doesn't sound very encouraging at all.

Liverpool midfielders Javier Mascherano and Yossi Benayoun are both fit for the Group D tie against the Dutch side.
They have recovered from minor injuries and their return leaves Rafa Benitez with plenty of midfield options.
PSV lost their opening group match 3-0 to Atletico Madrid and were booed off by their fans after a lacklustre 1-0 win over Volendam at the weekend.
They have former Liverpool defender Jan Kromkamp and ex-Manchester City keeper Andreas Isaksson in their squad.
Liverpool have made their best start to a domestic season since 1996 and are in great form having beaten Everton 2-0 in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.
Benitez knows a win on Wednesday will put his side well on the way to qualification for the knock-out stages, but he is refusing to take anything for granted in what will be his 250th game in charge of the team.
"When you are playing well and winning games, with everyone talking about how good you are, it is important to calm down and get people talking only about the next game," he said.
"We have to make sure we do not listen to what is being said but just concentrate on the future.
"But it is better to manage expectations, like we are, than be bottom of the table and trying to motivate players."
Liverpool beat and drew with the Dutch side in the 2006-07 group stages and then triumphed 3-0 on aggregate in the quarter-finals.
"PSV are a different side with a different manager and many players since the last time we played them in Europe," Benitez explained.
"Yes, we have beaten them at Anfield twice, but that is when things can be dangerous. People expect things to happen.
"The fact that PSV lost their opening group match to Atletico Madrid is also a problem for us.
"They have to get something here now and they will sit and defend and try to catch us on the counter-attack."
Kromkamp, who played 18 games for Liverpool during the 2005-06 season, speaks highly of his old club and believes they can win both the Champions League and Premier League this season.
"They can copy what Manchester United achieved last season in winning both the European Cup and the Premier League.
"They certainly have the quality. In fact, even when I was here I believed they were capable of winning anything they took part in.
"Having watched them a few times on TV this season, I can see their confidence is high and they are certainly able to win both the major tournaments."
Liverpool (from): Reina, Arbeloa, Carragher, Agger, Skrtel, Dossena, Aurelio, Babel, Benayoun, Gerrard, Mascherano, Alonso, Kuyt, Torres, Keane, Cavalieri, Lucas, Riera.

Clint Dempsey scored his fourth goal in four games, Michael Bradley and Brian Ching padded the margin, and the United States beat Trinidad and Tobago 3-0 in World Cup qualifying Wednesday night.
The victory was the fifth straight by the Americans, and virtually assures them of making next year's six-team regional finals. The United States is atop Group One in the semifinals of the North and Central American and the Caribbean with nine points, five ahead of TT.
"It's ideal, right?" Landon Donovan said. "We were excellent tonight. The first half was one of the most dominating performances I've ever been a part of. We were good all over the field."
The victory was hardly a surprise. The Americans are 25-1-7 in home qualifiers since May 1985, their only defeat a 3-2 loss to Honduras in September 2001, and have outscored opponents 21-0 on U.S. soil since 2004. They're also 9-0-2 in World Cup qualifying against TT.
The Soca Warriors, forced to play without veteran midfielder Dwight Yorke after he was recalled to his club team in England, had a second-half goal waved off on an offsides call. It was the sixth straight shutout for the United States.
"It's going to be tougher" to advance with the loss, Cornell Glenn said. "We know we have to work even harder. We have a job to do and we just have to forget this game."
Though the Americans came in with a four-game winning streak, their offense has been patchy and they eked out 1-0 victories in each of the prior three games all on the road.
No such problems against TT, as the Americans got two quick goals in the first 18 minutes.
"That wasn't important. The most important thing was to win," Dempsey insisted. "Whether we scored one goal or five, a win is a win."
DaMarcus Beasley earned the Americans a free kick in the ninth minute when he was tripped up as he sprinted down the left sideline. Donovan lofted the kick over the scrum in front of the goal and Marvin Phillip had no chance as Bradley flicked the ball into the goal with the right side of his foot.
Donovan pumped his fist when he saw the ball go in, and the rest of the Americans mobbed Beasley. It was Bradley's third international goal, and second this year.
Nine minutes later, the Americans doubled their lead. Dempsey had the ball on the right side and fed Beasley on a give-and-go. There were four defenders in front of him, but they were lined up flat, and Beasley threaded the ball on a perfect pass to Dempsey, who put it in the far side of the net.
It was the fourth goal in as many games for Dempsey. He had two at home against Barbados, and also scored at Cuba. He did not play when the Americans traveled to Barbados.
"Their defense wasn't comfortable coming in with (Beasley and Dempsey)," Donovan said. "And if they did come, our outside backs did a good job of getting around them and making it difficult. Time after time, we found little seams, we could turn plays and be dangerous almost every time we had the ball."
After managing just one shot in the first 45 minutes, the Soca Warriors got much more aggressive in the second half and managed to create a few chances on corner kicks. Steve Cherundolo and Carlos Bocanegra cleared out two, and Oguchi Onyewu knocked another shot to safety just outside the goal.
But the Americans effectively ended the game in the 57th minute. Akile Edwards flipped Cherundolo into the air, drawing a yellow card and giving the United States a free kick. Beasley took it, and Onyewu headed it back toward the goal, only to have Phillip get his hands on it as they collided.
The rebound caromed straight to Ching, though, who was all alone in front of the goal and headed the ball into the net.
"Getting that third goal killed the game," Donovan said. "They didn't want to get embarrassed, so three goals is enough." The Soca Warriors' thought they'd avoided the shutout in the 60th minute, when Glenn took a hard shot from just outside the box. American goalkeeper Tim Howard dove to his left and punched the ball away and second-half substitute Anthony Wolfe collected it and quickly put it into the open goal. Referees quickly whistled it off, and replays showed he was, indeed offsides. "We've not had a game like that in a while," U.S. coach Bob Bradley said. "We had a few last year, but so far this year, that's not the game we've been in. So it's good to get things going in the right way.

So the Four Associations Cup is go for 2011. Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland will compete in a round robin league format with two matches in February 2011 and the rest in May. All games will take place at a (by then) refurbished Lansdowne Road in Dublin.
So it's basically the old Home Nations tournament (dead since 1984) but with Ireland taking the place of England. Which is why some are calling it the Celtic Cup.
Why no England? Here's the impossibly dull official reason:
As there are limited international dates for opportunities to play nations from outside Europe, we like to use several dates to play teams from South America, Africa and Asia,” explained a spokesperson for the English FA.
“We have played several fixtures against the home nations since 1999 and our preference is to play one-off games rather than a tournament - if they fit in with the manager's plans.

here.) Citys new Brazilian connection combined for the opener against Portsmouth, Robhino cut in from the left to feed Jos superbly timed-run, and the striker beat David James to the ball to roll his shot into the empty net. Pompeys defense then conceded a soft second, David James (without a player marking the near post) struggled to deal with a near-post corner and Dunne was on hand to knock in the second.

After the recent drama in the Togo camp with Emmanuel Adebayor refusing to fly with the team to Zambia for a World Cup/African Cup of Nations qualifier, I knew what we needed was to hear directly from Emmanuel about the situation. Well, Captain Togo did speak his mind, and while he didn't directly address the fear of flying issue, he had some important things to say.

There are folks out there who have strong feelings about the New England Patriots. Some of them love the team – they are still celebrating the Super bowl victories, thinking about the Adam Vinatieri game winning kick in a blizzard to secure a playoff win. Other people are way on the opposite end of the spectrum. Rather than thinking that the New England Patriots are one of the greatest teams out there, theyve got a dozen reasons why the Pats are insignificant – most often, the item topping their list is going to be last seasons spygate scandal.
Whether you love the New England Patriots or you wish they would drop out of the NFL altogether, one thing that you are going to discover quickly is that theyre still a talking point. When it comes to football, when it comes to chatting things over at the water cooler come Monday morning at the office, the New England Patriots are going to come up.
On one hand, talk about the New England Patriots is going to be focused on Tom Brady – on his potential injuries, on whom he is dating and on whether or not hes played his best game. Others are going to be focusing on Bill Belichick and whether or not he is doing the best possible job as a coach – as well as focusing on the rest of the coaching staff of the New England Patriots. Others are going to be talking about passing yards, rushing plays, touchdown passes as well as those who came up against the offense and defense.
Ultimately, those who are watching the New England Patriots games – whether they are hoping that Brady and his team win or lose – are going to find that theres something unexpected each week. It may be a matter of waiting to see what the commentators have to say; it might be able looking into the plays that are being made and trying to determine whether or not the calls that were made were the right ones.
The NFL season has not yet begun – though it will happen soon enough – and yet fans of the game are already talking. After watching pre-season practice sessions, pre-season games and as newscasters start covering the stories on the evening news or in the local papers, the notion that the New England Patriots season is about to begin is something that has a lot of people thinking about tailgating parties, about getting together with friends and about seeing what happens from one week to the next.
Whether you are looking forward to a new season played by the New England Patriots or other favorite teams or you just are looking forward to seeing what everybody else has to talk about, the football season is about to begin and, for many, thats the most exciting thing thats happened since, well, the Super bowl last February (though, perhaps for some New England Patriots fans, thats still a sore subject) – heres to a brand new season thats coming right around the corner.

Calling all fans of Ticket To Ride games! Jump aboard with the latest expansion game, Ticket To Ride Switzerland! This newest game is expressly designed for two to three players and requires a provision of forty trains (and the corresponding scoring markers) and 110 train cards from either Ticket To Ride, Ticket To Ride Europe, or Ticket To Ride Marklin. The fold out board, like the other games, is nicely featured with the same quality you would expect to find from a Days of Wonder board game. Some of the rules have been changed, compelling players to employ different strategies. Instead of the maximum of forty-six trains per player, this game allows for only forty trains each. For anyone who was working on their last route and ran out of trains, you understand the frustration and importance of this new rule! There are also forty-six destination tickets for the Swiss map, although some of these new cards can take you to adjacent countries. You still earn ten bonus points for having the longest and connected train routes. The locomotive cards (which are the multi-colored "wild cards" that can stand in for any other color) can now only be placed on the tunnel routes (before they could be played on any route). Also, when selecting cards from the train card pile, you can pick up two locomotive cards (just as you would with the regular train colors) instead of just one. These extra features will make for an interesting game! Please Note: This is not a stand alone game. It requires components from either Ticket To Ride, Ticket To Ride Europe, or Ticket To Ride Marklin. Contents of Ticket To Ride Switzerland:
* 1 Board Map of Switzerland Train Routes
* 46 Destination Tickets
* 1 Instruction Booklet in English, French, German, Spanish, Finnish, Norwegian, and Dutch.

It was known as the Ceylon national football team until 1972, when Ceylon was renamed Sri Lanka. Football in Sri Lanka stands somewhat in the shadow of the countrys Great cricket team. Sri Lankan the side did qualify for the second stage of Asian qualifying for the 2006 World Cup. In 1995 they won the SAFF Cup. 2006 They were the Runner Up team in AFC Challenge Cup. In 1990s Rhoshan Perera is my best Sri Lankan Footballer. Amunulla is also great player. Now Chcthura Maduranga and Kasun Jayasuriya are good players.

I read the news today, oh boy. You couldnt make this up! With God (4 Brazilians, an Olympian Argentine and the prodigal son Sean Wright-Philips) on Our Side, Man City prove that the Premier League can be sheikhen and stirred.
Having pinched Robinho from Chelski and nearly nicking Berbatov from Utd (just for fun), CITEH are shooting for the stars. A solid back 4, creative midfield, SWP and Petrov on the wings plus Jo and Robinho up front, goals and entertainment are guaranteed at Middle Eastlands and all points west, north and south.
Mark Hughes, that old Utd leg end, has finally hit the big time, and he cant believe his luck. Shinawatra is thankfully out of the picture, leaving our Abu Dhabi benefactors to sweep up. Expect to see some ridiculous signings in January. WEVE GOT THE DOSH.
If everything goes well, well finish in the top 8, after defeats to Hull, Wigan and West Brom in the February freeze. This is City, after all.
Slide awhile with the City Slickers.

Well back in the Olympic at Beijing, Brazil played really well but they kind of lost the sambal soccer skills when facing Argentina but they managed to show what sambal soccer is again at the bronze medal match to the crowd again and won the bronze. Argentina played well and won the Gold medal. It was nice to see world footballers like Ronaldinho and Messi at the game. Now there is an interesting game that is known as the virtual footballer here that will spark an interest to all football lovers as it is somewhat a new concept of game where you can be the star of the match. Everything is as if you are there at the game virtually! You can create yourself as a virtual footballer and be one of the football superstars! So what if you have never played any football games before? Then perhaps it is time you try out this popular game. If you think it is only football you are playing here, then there are actually more things that will surprise you. There are clubs, restaurants and stadiums and many other things for you to explore and enjoy. It is more than just a football game and you can play and interact with many other footballers around the world. This whole game is an interesting concept and a place for people who like football and people who want to play some good games. Football superstar is a game where you might get lots of fun and enjoyment.

When people talk about the baseball World Series, the reality is that, unlike the Superbowl in football, they are not just talking about a single game. The baseball World Series is just that - a series of games that is meant to determine the best team in Major League Baseball at the end of the season.
Of course, the challenge for teams in Major League Baseball is that there isnt just one ultimate series that matters; when it comes to getting to the baseball World Series, the best team from the American League and the Best Team from the National League both need to earn their spots in the championship series.
In both the American League and the National League, throughout the season all of the teams are competing to establish a record that will help them to get closer to the baseball World Series. The top four teams of the American League compete to advance to the baseball World Series - the top team plays the wild card (fourth place) team, the second and third place teams play, competing in best of 5 series to determine which teams advance to another five game series meant to determine the American League champion team. The same breakdown happens among the National League teams.
Playoff season ultimately brings together the championship team of the National League and of the American League to compete for the World Champions title in the baseball World Series - a game that takes place at the end of October. This has been the structure since 1994, and the determination of whether the National League team or the American League team gains home field advantage is made during the All-Star game mid-season.
Of course, while this structure was adopted by Major League Baseball for the baseball World Series in 1994, the World Series was not held that year as there had been a strike. 1994, however, was not the only year in the history of the baseball World Series that did not see the championship games played. Since the baseball World Series was first played with a match-up of the National League Pittsburgh Pirates and the American League team from Boston in 1903, a number of series has been missed.
In 1904, the World Series was not played because of the assertion that American League teams, because they were new, were simply inferior. A champion was not crowned in 1919 because the Chicago White Sox team had made an effort to fix the outcome of the game. 1989 led to an abbreviated baseball World Series tournament as both teams were from the area of San Francisco and a major earthquake occurred and disrupted the championship.
For baseball fans, the baseball World Series games are among those that are most watched and most looked forward to. Those who are passionate about baseball are often going to watch the series whether or not their favorite teams are involved simply because the series is a match-up of the best of the best teams in the nation.

Watch Cyprus vs Italy live in the UEFA World Cup qualifier as the home side could be the next receivers of punishment from the world champions. Cyprus on the international stage have failed to impress so far, even though their club sides are starting to make people take notice. They are obviously the underdogs in this live UEFA World Cup football match on TV and online, but what is different this time, is that the players are starting to believe that they can match the best sides. It will still take results from this live commentary UEFA World Cup qualifier soccer match between Cyprus and Italy at Neo GSP Stadium to prove that thinking though, and they will not stop trying.
Italy are recovering from the disappointment they suffered at Euro 2008 in this live commentary and online radio TV telecast UEFA World Cup qualifier soccer match between Cyprus and Italy at Neo GSP Stadium and a quick qualification will solve some heartaches. But they have yet to impress even with Marcello Lippi back at the helm, as their last friendly match would have proven. Central to their current problems is their lack of a consistent goalscorer, but that should be the least of their problems in this live UEFA World Cup soccer match on TV and online against a lesser side. The Italian fans will also demand that they score a lot more in this live streaming online soccer TV and radio broadcast UEFA World Cup qualifier soccer match between Cyprus and Italy at Neo GSP Stadium which will heap even more pressure on the players.

The beauty of coach Greg DeLaval, quarterback David Hamilton and the whole lot of the U of T Varsity Blues ending their seven-year losing streak is that all of us who make time for CIS football can feel like a winner this morning. Well, not the unfortunate Waterloo Warriors. of course. (Granted, if you support Laval, you were probably doing fairly well already.)
Toronto's 18-17 comeback win over Waterloo might only raise a temporary glow, but it's been 2,515 days in the making since their last win over Windsor. Two thousand, five hundred and fifteen days -- you almost have to write that out, eh? Please don't begrudge anyone for basking just a little in the Blues' reflected glory. (Small wonder that at this hour, it's the most-read story on the Toronto Star website.)
Why shouldn't we? The Streak has come to define, even marginalize, OUA and CIS football for way, way too long. Skeptics, in somewhat characteristic self-hating Canuck fashion, have long pointed to U of T's dismal record as a reason to see our great game as a living joke. All of us diehards, regardless of how many arguments we've tried in a bid to open some minds, knew was no more getting around that than Waterloo was able to get by U of T's defence when push met shove last night.
Dane Cook movies have had more credible scripts. Waterloo probably should have been able to put this one to bed long before the late stages of the fourth quarter. The Warriors outgained Toronto 478 yards to 410 on the night, but the Varsity Blues defence never broke. They got a couple sacks from a defensive end from Pickering, Abiodun Olusoga, a freshman management major who if you can believe is listed at 5-foot-11, 200 pounds. That's barely bigger than the defensive backs at some schools in Canada, never mind the NCAA.
Matthew Morris, a transfer defensive back who -- ivory-tower types take note -- is at U of T thanks in part to that dirty, sexy scholarship money, also helped prop up his mates on offence with a 92-yard kickoff return. In the final minutes, Hamilton, whom one can only assume has wondered if he would go out on an 0-40 record just like former coach Steve Howlett (who should get a little credit, since he recruited a lot of the players), directed the two late scoring drives. The second, wouldn't you know it, was capped by a rookie in his first game, Andrew Lomasney, kicking a 32-yard field goal with 26.2 seconds left. Naturally, he'd missed his first two attempts of the night.
It seems best to let up on the wonder-why. Anyone who's stayed current with the Varsity Blues' fortunes through thin and thinner knows that they've had close calls over the past few years. They also know that, given the school's track record, we have to be patient. One win does not a turnaround make.
U of T might go to 2-0 on Saturday vs. Windsor. Maybe their next win won't come for another seven years or until Toronto finally tears down the Gardiner Expressway, whatever comes first. Tonight could be just one-off. It was a hell of a one-off, though.
